In 2021, during my first year in the ceramics department at the Rietveld Academie, the assignment was to create a sculpture as big as myself. I ended up making a large bunny, wide-eyed and oversized, somewhere between soft and unsettling. It became my first real step into ceramic sculpture.
Alongside it, I made a series of smaller works: a fast food container in clay, a trampstamp with a fur-covered head, a trap smeared with blood, a sword, an alphabet table, a spiked weapon and slices of bread with cheese. Each piece explored different moods and textures: some playful, some awkward, some slightly aggressive.
